About International POSITIVE Sports Awards

In 2010, in an effort to increase the amount of POSITIVE news to combat a disturbing trend toward negative news, internationally respected organizations such as Sister Cities International and Rotary International, representing over 1.2 million POSITIVE individuals in over 200 countries, launched an awards program to shine the light on the world’s most positive individuals, organizations and communities.
The International POSITIVE Sports Awards will follow last year’s awards program that celebrated the positive work of NFL star Hines Ward (Pro Athlete), Oklahoma basketball coach Sherri Coale (Coach), MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks (Pro Sports Team), and ESPN/”V” Foundation (Media). In 2011, four new awards will be added to celebrate college sports fans, pro sports communities, sporting events and sports leagues.
As the stewards of the awards, Sister Cities International believes that we can change escalating negative thinking in our communities on an international basis. As the Olympics have shown, sports are one of the greatest forms of citizen diplomacy. We invite you to help join us in nominating worthy individuals, teams/leagues, communities, businesses and events in 2011 for the International POSITIVE Sports Awards.
