To vote on positivity, you have to know it when you see it. And Rotary International is a driving force for positive action with its 1.2 million members working in 33,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographic areas.
Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. Rotary members initiate community projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as poverty, disease and illiteracy.
Rotary’s top philanthropic goal is to eradicate polio worldwide. Since 1985, Rotary members have donated their time and money to help immunize more than 2 billion children in 122 countries. To date, Rotary has contributed more than US$900 million and countless volunteer hours to fighting the disease. Rotary and its partners have reduced polio cases by 99.9% worldwide, yet Polio still threatens children in parts of Africa and South Asia. Rotary members also build peace and international understanding through education. To help the next generation of leaders reduce the threat of war and violence, Rotary has teamed with leading universities around the world to offer a master’s degree program in peace and conflict resolution at six Rotary Centers for International Studies. More than 500 Rotary Center alumni are already making a difference in key decision-making positions in governments and organizations around the world. Every year, Rotary clubs help build peace by initiating thousands of humanitarian projects that address the underlying causes of social instability and conflict -- such as hunger, poverty, disease and illiteracy.
